Denny was a loving husband, son, brother & uncle. Denny will be remembered for his love of woodworking, keeping a meticulous lawn & vegetable garden with Diana. He was a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, The 3rd Marine Division Association & The First Battalion 4th Marine Regiment. Denny was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 & the Vevay VFW Post #5396. He resided in Switzerland County all of his life. Denny taught Industrial Arts & coached Basketball, Baseball, Cross Country & Track. Denny retired in 1998, after 27 years of service as a High School Teacher at the Switzerland County High School. Denny & Diana shared nearly 35 years of marriage together until his death. He was united in marriage on December 28, 1978, in Warsaw, Kentucky, to Diana Mae Harmon. Denny received his Bachelor's Degree in 1972 & Master's Degree in 1973 at the Eastern Kentucky University. For his courageous service to his Country, Denny received the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with One Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Commendation Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960 Device, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation (Gallantry Cross, Color with Palm), Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation (Civil Actions Medal). He was honorably discharged on May 31, 1967, in Louisville, Kentucky, after being wounded in the battle of "Operation Oregon", in Phu Bai Vietnam on March 20, 1966. on August 25, 1965, in Indianapolis, Indiana, rising to the rank of Lance Corporal, serving in Company B, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Division & 3rd Marine Division, during the Vietnam War. Denny was inducted into the United States Marine Corp. Denny was raised in Switzerland County, Indiana, where he was a 1965 graduate of Vevay High School. Dennis Jay "Denny" Brown, age 66, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on August 22, 1946, in Madison, Indiana, the loving son of James Robert "Bob" Brown & Margaret Lee (Netherland) Weidmann & he was preceded in death by his Father.
